Springfield died on Nov. 8, 2016, at his home in Springfield.Mass of Christian will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, on Monday Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Father Phil Schotzko. Interment will be in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery in Springfield.Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.Article PhotosFred Dauer Sr.There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.Fred George Dauer was born April 3, 1924, in Madelia to Otto and Helen (Kissel) Dauer. On Oct. 6, 1948, Fred was united in marriage to Arline Fischer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple lived near Searles and moved to rural Springfield in 1959 where they raised five children. Fred was a past member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements and a current member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. He was also a member of the Hanska American Legion Post 365 for 63 years and Clements American Legion Post 519 for 26 years. Fred enjoyed farming, praying the rosary, driving around the countryside looking at the crops, reading the Farmer's Almanac, reading the Legionnaire magazine, his many pets, gardening, including fruit trees and raspberries. He especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a great steward of the land and acknowledged that the Lord was the giver of all. James, died Oct. 8, 2016 at the Golden Pond Home in Champlain.Lorna Esther Bolin, 96, formerly of St. James, died Oct. 8, 2016 at the Golden Pond Home in Champlain. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 13 at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. K. Christian Johnson and Rev. Maggie Cumings officiating. Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at First Lutheran Church and Thursday one hour before services. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.Lorna was born on the family farm near Elbow Lake on Feb. 19, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Gunda (Gren) Langeland. She grew up in the Elbow Lake area where she attended country school and graduated from Elbow Lake High School. Lorna went to secretarial school for one year and worked for a number of businesses as a secretary. On June 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Charles Bolin in St. Paul. They moved to Indianapolis, Ind. where Chuck was working at the time. In 1949, they returned to St. James and joined the family business, Bolin Lumber. Lorna was active in First Lutheran Church; she enjoyed bible classes and taught Sunday School, and she was active in Ladies Aid and sang in a trio with Bonnie Bolin and Marge Strommen. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the lake, traveling, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, reading and belonging to the faith and fiction book club.Survivors include her son, Stephen (Juli) Bolin of Baxter; daughters, Katherine Bolin of Rockford, Beth (Brad) Shopek of Maple Grove; five grandchildren, Caleb Bolin, Stephanie and her daughter Aspen Rose Bolin, Megan Bolin, Alissa Shopek and Christina Shopek. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Ruth (Russ) Follett, and Kay (Jerry) Nyberg.

He attended school in Springfield and was a member of the United States Army Signal Corp in World War II in Italy. On Aug. 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Frieda Kaul in Springfield and they celebrated 65 years of marriage together. George worked for Bright's Service Station, the P&M Market, and Tauer's Supervalu. George loved spending time with his family, gardening, especially puttering in his yard and large garden, playing old time music with friends and relatives, fishing, playing cards, delivering meals on wheels, and the many summer trips to Northern Minnesota. He was a fan of all Minnesota sports teams mainly the Twins. He was a life-long member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, where in his younger years he sang in the choir, the American Legion Post 257, and the VFW. George loved people and people loved George, a friendly and outgoing man who was always in a happy mood. He was one of a kind who will be greatly missed by his family.George is survived by sons and daughters: Charles (Vicki) Roiger, Kathryn (Nicholas) Highland, Gretchen Roiger, Michael Roiger, Susan (Robert) Newman, Heidi (Patrick) Linder; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
